Here is some further information about the ALERT state-wide meeting.

Date: February 14, 2000

Location: Pacific Coast Club (PCC), Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) (near Lompoc, California). See map of area.

Why VAFB?:
The meeting was scheduled to immediately precede a launch of a satellite from VAFB. That launch was to be on February 15. The launch has now been set for "no earlier than February 26." Attendees may stay over for the launch if they so desire.

Dinner Sunday night (2.13.00):
The ALERT Steering Committee suggests that those wanting to meet for dinner on Sunday do so at the "Outpost" in Lompoc at 118 S. H Street. Meet at about 6:30pm. This will be an informal gathering with no special tables or reservations.

Access to VAFB:
A list of names and affiliations of all the ALERT meeting attendees will be at the visitor reception building at VAFB. For access to the base on the day of the meeting, take your photo ID to the reception building to obtain a visitor pass and directions to the PCC.

Registration Fee:
Each ALERT meeting attendee is asked to pay a $15 registration fee on the morning of the meeting. (This fee will cover the costs of refreshments and lunch). Receipts will be provided.

Requirements if paying by check:
1) Check for $15 made out to Joseph Skiles NOT ALERT

2a) Title or deed to your primary residence,
or
2b) A detailed list of all your worldly goods and chattel,

and

3) A set of tail fins from a 1957 Buick

(Money orders will be accepted with #3 above.)

Lunch on 2.14.00:
Lunch will be a special Valentines Day buffet in the PCC featuring viands sublime. A special room has been set aside for our use during lunch. Be sure to get your buffet coupon when you register for the meeting.
