ALERT WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Meeting Topic: This ALERT meeting or workshop is specifically designed to focus on proposals for continuation of ALERT activities. Participants are asked to come prepared to discuss proposal topics, writing assignments, timelines, etc.

Proposed Preparation Activities: We would ask that each institution (NASA Center, CSU campus) come prepared with a one to two-page write-up on "How ALERT has contributed to my professional mission and/or activities, and how has it positively effected my institution (department, college, center, etc.)". We believe that this writing exercise will result in a more detailed context for our discussions on Friday the 26th of January. Each institution (again, Center, campus) should bring about 20-25 copies of the write-up for general dissemination.

In addition, we would ask that the write-ups be sent electronically to Edward Ng, Beth Ambos, Ellen Metzger, and Jay Skiles by WEDNESDAY, January 24th. The small group will attempt to synthesize some of the comments from individuals to create a summary of most commonly cited benefits.

Parking:
Parking will be available on campus, probably in Lot 7, which is directly next to the Information kiosk on 7th street. As January 26th is the last day before classes start on Monday the 29th of January, parking should not be too difficult to obtain on campus. Nonetheless, we do encourage carpooling, if possible.

PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO ME OR TO DONNA ALEXANDER (dalexand@csulb.edu) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BUT IN ANY EVENT, NOT LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24TH, SO THAT WE MAY SECURE PARKING FOR YOU.

I will send a message with directions to the parking kiosk early next week. Maps for our campus are also found at http://www.csulb.edu.

Meeting Venue:
The meeting will be held in the Faculty-Staff Development Center — 1st floor of the main library — east wing. The library is located at the southwest corner of campus, within easy walking distance of the east wing of the Library.
